Laser Cataract Surgery

Laser-assisted cataract removal is a recent breakthrough in cataract extraction technology that is paving the way for the future of vision. This technology utilizes a femtosecond laser to perform some of the crucial steps of cataract surgery, which are traditionally performed using a handheld surgical blade. Laser cataract surgery takes an already safe and precise procedure and makes it more accurate, more predictable, and better than ever before.

LenSx Femtosecond Technology

At Heart of Texas Eye Institute, we use the Alcon LenSx femtosecond laser. This technology is especially important for patients wanting to maximize their visual outcomes, such as those electing a premium lens implant or astigmatism correction.

Cataract surgery is a covered benefit under most insurance plans including Medicare. Premium lens upgrades, however, are not included. Cost for the laser or lens implant upgrades are paid out of pocket in addition to medical insurance payments. During your cataract examination, your surgeon will help you determine if this technology is beneficial for you.
